Villa U14 Boys Group 2 League Winners 2011/2012
Dromore Villas only silverware of the season arrived when our U14 boys captured the Group 2 League title last week in a highly entertaining and hard fought game against Yeats Utd. The game took place at Dromore Villas soccer pitch. The game came to life quickly with both teams pressing for an early goal and it was Villa who were rewarded with one on 18 minutes as Iarla Connor scored a great long range strike. It stayed that way till the end of the first half and the second half began the same as the first with both teams playing great football. Yeats got back on level terms early in the second half after the ball rebounded off keeper Kieran Devaney and hit Mikey Gordon to score an unfortunate own goal. Yeats then took the lead five minutes later after a great run and finish from their striker. With 10 minutes left villa equalized when Iarla Connor got his second of the evening with a brilliant header after a great Joe McHugh free kick. The game was forced into extra time and in the last 10 minutes Iarla got his hat trick with a cool finish after linking up well with Rory McHugh. Villa got their fourth goal to decide the game after good pressure from Mikey Gordon when he won the ball and then scored after a great run and finish. This was a great performance from both teams and every player gave their all. Congratulations to all on a great season and Micheal would like to thank the parents for their support throughout the season. He would also like to thank everyone that helped him during the year and he looks forward to next season.
This was a fitting way to mark the end of our time in ynes' pitch and we would like to thank Michael, Margaret & all the Hynes family for their hospitality over the past 3 years. We look forward to returning to Templeboy where the redeveloped pitches should be ready for the start of the upcoming season although a lot of ladies will miss the half time cuppa that Margaret so regularly provided on those cold days.

U14's get a home draw in Div 2 final
The Villa U14's qualified for the Division 2 final in a one sided game when they overcame Manor Rangers on Thursday last in Hynes' pitch. In a game where the result was never really in any doubt Villa scored 7 without reply. Manor never gave up though and had a few chances late in the game.
The lads now have a home game V Calry on Thursday at 6:30 in what will be the last game in Hynes' pitch so come along and support the boys if you can.
The U12 boys had a disappointing trip to Riverstown on Wednesday when they lost 7 nil to a well organised Arrow Harps side.
The U10's had a challenge on Tuesday when Kiglass/Enniscrone were visitors, it was a very entertaining game both the boys and girls all played some great football and had a really enjoyable evening. They have a game away to western Rovers next week, time and date to be confirmed.

News april 10th to 17th
U12 Boys.
The U12 boys qualified for the league quarter finals with a good win over St Johns in Carrowroe on Tuesday the 10th. Villa played with a slight breeze in the 1st half and although we had good possession and created a few chances it was scoreless at the break. The lads upped the pace in the 2nd half and created a few good scoring chances before Paul Clarke poked the ball into the net after a goalmouth scramble. The 2nd goal came when St Johns conceded a penalty when Fionn Connolly was pushed over in the box, Gavin Connolly scored with a well struck shot into the corner of the net. St Johns kept up the pressure and looked dangerous on the break but the result was sealed when Evan Kilrehill scored Villa's 3rd. There were good displays from David Hallinan at the back, Evan Kilrehill in midfield and Fionn Connolly up front. Our next game is an away quarter final to arrow Harps on Wednesday the 25th.
The U18 Girls have a home tie in the League Semi Final when they host Manor Rangers at 6:30 on Thurs 19th.
This is sure to be a tight affair as there has been little between the teams in their previous meetings so your support would be much appreciated.
U14 Boys have a League Semi Final the following week when they also play hosts to Manor Rangers on Thursday the 26th, kick off is 6:30pm.
This should also be a tight game as a place in the League Final is the reward for the winners so come along and cheer the lads on.
In the Sligo Pallets Premier Michael, David and the lads have just 2 games left, both are away, to Calry Bohs this Sunday the 22nd at 11am and on Wednesday the 2nd of May they wrap up this years campaign with a trip to Real Tubber with a 7pm kick off.
Our scrap metal collection has been extended to the end of this week so if you've done the spring clean now is the time to get rid of any scrap metal of any kind that is lying about. Drop off point is at Hynes' pitch and thanks to all who have contributed to make this such a successful fundraiser for the club.

Dromore Villa beat Manor Rangers 1 – 0. The match was played in very windy conditions, with Dromore Villa playing against the wind in the first half. It was difficult to play good football, but Villa created a few chances and the game remained scoreless at half time. Manor Rangers defended well in the second half, but some good passing and movement created a chance for Villa with Fionn Connolly and Cahan Hallinan linking up well together in forwards and Cahan Hallinan scoring the only game of the match. There were some good displays from Dromore Villa from Gavin Connolly at the back and Paul Clarke in midfield which should stand to them well for the next match.

Villa scored first with some good movement down the wing from Paul Clarke to score the first goal, but Real Tubber quickly replied. It was hard to play good football with the windy conditions. At half-time the teams were level at 2 – 2. Villas 3rd goal came from a great run from Paul Clarke in midfield and he finished it off well. We conceded a penalty late in the second half which Real Tubber scored to make it 3 – 4. Villa tried hard to get back on even terms but Tubber defended well, some fine displays from Dromore Villa from Paul Clarke in midfield, Simon Mullarkey in goals and Shane O'Brien in defence.

Girls U-18’s
Villa U-18 girls recorded their second win of the season defeating Strand Celtic 2 – 1. Played in blustery conditions Villa had most of the possession in the first half and playing against the breeze they took the lead late in the first half when Megan Duffy fired in from close range following a free kick that was cleared out to her. Villa increased their lead after the restart when Aoife Connolly set up Lisa Kilgannon who took the shot from just outside the box. Sloppy Villa defending allowed Strand back into the game. This seemed to spur Dromore Villa on and a great strike from Marie Ruane brought an equally great save from the Strand keeper.
Our U10s played a challenge V Strand Celtic on Saturday in Sligo Rovers astro pitch, as it is non competitive scores/results are not recorded but I think its fair to say our boys and girls came home the happier!!!
Community Park Update
The past week has seen a lot of work taking place with the reseeded pitches being cut for the first time this year. The grass is knitting in well and with regular cutting should fill in even better. On Saturday there was a major clean up of the car park area, all the stone/clay was removed and the car park was covered with a coat of maintenance. The water issue was sorted out and a general tidy up was carried out. Thanks to all who helped out and we look forward to when the pitches will be in full use later this year.

Our Junior team had a home game on Sunday when they hosted Boyle Celtic Reserves and despite a fine goal from Matthew Lang were on the wrong end of a 3 goals to 1 result, its a local derby next Sunday when Kilglass/Enniscrone are the visitors to Dromore West and Villa will be looking to get their campaign back on track.
Dromore Villa F.C. held our Annual Blitz for the Stephen Tempany Cup and Shield on Sunday with a great turn out of almost 40 boys and girls from our U8, U10 & U12 squads. The U12 competition was a close affair all through with Andrew Kilcullens team victorious over Daniel Rolston's team in the Final to take home the Cup. In the U8/U10's there were some really entertaining games and in the Final Shona Lang's team had a hard fought victory over Ciara Connolly's team to claim the Shield. Well done to all who took part, thanks to the parents who braved the bitter cold to cheer them on, special thanks to Ann & Declan Tempany who were on hand to present the Cup & Shield, to Niamh Burns for helping with the U8/U10's also to St Josephs N.S. for the use of their facilities.

Happy New Year - update for 7th & 8th January 2012
Firstly we wish all our players, parents, managers, committee and all associated with Dromore Villa F.C. a Happy New Year and wish you all the best for the year ahead.
Our Junior team kicked off 2012 with a 1 goal to nil win over Gurteen Celtic on Sunday. The game was played on the astro pitch in Cleveragh and with weather conditions perfect for football it was a very entertaining game. Both sides relished the playing surface and played some good end to end football. Despite some chances for both sides the first half failed to produce a goal but substitute Michael Connolly changed that 20 minutes into the 2nd half when he scored a fine goal after some good build up play from mid field. There were chanced for both as the game entered the final stages and Sean Healy in the Villa goal had to be sharp on more than 1 occasion to keep a clean sheet. Villa created a few more scoring chances but failed to add to their lead and manager Michael Hynes was happy to hear the final whistle with all 3 points secured. Next game is a home fixture to Boyle Celtic next Sunday at 11am.
The U14 lads had kicked off Villa's 2012 the previous day with a comprehensive win over Strand Celtic Green on a score of 4 goals to 1. Although they were without a fixture for several weeks due to postponements the lads settled into their stride well and played some good football which resulted in the opening goal from Eunan Curran. It was 1 nil at half time but Strand equalised early in the 2nd half, Villa responded well and went ahead again with a wonderful long range goal from Iarla Connor, Mikey Gordon added a 3rd from a free kick and Iarla was on target again for Villa's 4th with a curling shot that deceived the strand defence and hit the net.
The game had a disappointing end for Villa though as 2nd half sub Joe McMunn fell awkwardly and had to go off injured with a fractured arm, we wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action when fully recovered.
Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 players are having a club Blitz this Sunday for the Stephen Tempany Cup, it will be held at Templeboy N.S. astro pitch.
Thanks to all who supported the 2 very successful Poker Classics held over Christmas and New Year, 1 in The Still Bar And the other in The Beach Bar, your support is much appreciated, thanks also to those who sponsored spot prizes.
